Alicia Buteau was born Aug. 13, 2003, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Emily and Mike Buteau. She has an older brother, Kyle, a pug named Mojo, and two cats, Chip and Salsa. Currently, Alicia attends Centennial High School and will graduate in 2022.

Alicia began gymnastics at age 4 when her parents enrolled her in a beginner class with the Roswell Parks & Recreation Department after noticing that she loved to climb trees and flip around the house. She fell in love with the sport and eventually joined Roswell's competition teams, staying loyal to the same gym throughout her gymnastics career.

She is a seven-time qualifier for the Southeast Regional Championships, beginning in 2013. That year, she was the Georgia State Excel champion on floor exercise and went on to win the floor title at Region 8 Regionals while finishing 6th all-around. In 2014, Alicia was the Region 8 Excel champion on uneven bars and finished 3rd all-around. Over the next few years, Alicia progressed through levels 7-9, placing 3rd on floor at the Level 8 Southeast Regional Championships in 2016, and 2nd on floor at the Georgia State Championship in 2017, qualifying for Regionals for the 5th consecutive year.

As a level 9 gymnast in 2020 (season shortened due to COVID-19), Alicia finished the season as a qualifier for the Region 8 National Team Training Camp at Auburn University, a designation given to gymnasts who likely would have qualified for Junior Olympic Eastern Nationals if the season hadn't been cut short.

During the 2020 season, Alicia placed first on bars in five consecutive meets, including at the Tampa Bay Turners Invite in January where her 9.7 score ranked as the third-highest in the country for her age group. She matched that with another 9.7 on bars at the Classic Rock Invite in Arizona in her next meet. Overall, she finished the season with two 1st-place All-Around titles and two 2nd-place All-Around titles, including first-place finishes on beam (twice) and floor (once).

In 2019, Alicia was an alternate for the Level 9 JO Eastern Nationals. She finished 3rd on floor, 3rd on beam, and 8th all-around at the Georgia State Championship and qualified for the Southeast Regional Championship for a 6th time.

Alicia trains 22-26 hours per week under coaches Lorenzo Wyatt, Juan Pablo (JP) and Karla Monterroso, and choreographers Yulia and Olga Yurkina. Alicia is working hard to obtain the skills necessary to be a competitive college gymnast as she continues her education to pursue a career working with animals or in the nutrition field.
